There were Tormach employees all over the country last week, from Autodesk University in Las Vegas to talking makerspaces at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Some spent last week in the glitz and glam of Las Vegas… but really, we only saw the inside of the Sands Convention Center where Tormach Brand Ambassador, John Saunders, spent the week teaching CAM and machining.

What happens when you combine nearly 400 machining enthusiasts, a panel of YouTubers, and a few metal-working companies? You get the Saunders Machine Works/NYC CNC open house.

Autodesk is a company that creates all kinds of software for manufacturing, engineering, and enterprise uses. When the company took to creating Fusion 360, an approachable, integrated CAD/CAM package, we knew that Tormach needed to be involved. Fusion 360 provides the ability to easily move from CAD (computer aided design) to CAM (computer aided manufacturing), which really streamlines the process to creating parts.

We spent last week in Las Vegas attending Autodesk University, but we did more than just attend, we presented.

Autodesk recently partnered with Tormach to bring the latest version of Fusion 360 to the owners of qualified PCNC machines. During our second annual open house in August, Curt Chan and Jeremy Stadtmueller gave a hands-on presentation of the Fusion 360 experience with Tormach posts.

Tormach’s 2015 open house (#Tormach2015) went off with resounding success. Tormach’s technical staff spent the day giving seminars and presentations on various aspects of the Tormach machinery, and guests mulled through an Open House Only Sale.
