April is an exciting time for robotics around the office at Tormach. We're helping the kids competing at FIRST Robotics in Milwaukee and LaCrosse, Wisconsin, as well as the championship event in Detroit.

Tormach machine tools are used for a variety of different projects, from businesses to hobbyist endeavors, but in 2016 Tormach-created parts saw a lot of action in the BattleBots arena.

When law enforcement agencies and the military need a robot mechanical platform compact enough to be carried around in the field but with enough power to get the job done, they turn to The Machine Lab.

Here at Tormach, we work to regularly feature what users are making with our customer stories – like the recent one about Lisa Winter from BattleBots. I’ve also written blogs in the past about some of the amazing work that Tormach users are doing with their personal CNC machinery, but the community of Tormach owners is growing faster than ever… and so have the incredible projects! ABC’s BattleBots pits a horde of 250-pound robots against each other in gear-grinding, fire-spewing combat, but Lisa Winter brings her ladybug doppelganger, Mega Tento, to the match. Created with the help of a Tormach PCNC 1100, Winter’s cutesy robot of doom is more than meets the eye, but this fierce competitor’s story started more than a decade ago.

The number of customers that have Tormach machines has grown quite a bit over the years, and with customers, the community has expanded as well. Today, we’ve announced the list of our official Tormach Brand Ambassadors. Makers, machinists, entrepreneurs, roboticists, and so much more, these Tormach owners are exemplifying everything that Tormach machinery is capable of creating.
